PainChek Android Release Note - Update 4.16
Who should read this?
This release note applies to all PainChek users who are currently using the PainChek app on Android phones and tablets.
What's happening?
The PainChek Android application release version 4.16 will be available for download from the Google Play store on 01/12/2019. Note: this was a limited release in the UK only.
What's changed?
This release version (4.16) features a number of improvements over the current version:
- Quick Sign In PINs are now being saved to the database, so if you sign in to PainChek on another device, you will be prompted if you want to use your existing Quick Sign In PIN. See note below in regards the security applied when storing the PIN.
- Added an icon to show there's a voice domain recording in an assessment.
- Increased the timeout when starting a new assessment from 10 seconds to 20 seconds.
- Fixed an issue where daylight savings were showing assessments 1 hour ahead on Android devices.
- If PainChek users try to exit a screen where they have entered data, it will now prompt them to ensure they would like to discard the information entered.
- Location details (ward, room and bed number) are no longer mandatory.
- The first time you sign in to PainChek you will need to agree to the PainChek Data Consent, Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
- If you enter the wrong Quick Sign In pin 3 times, PainChek will prompt you if you would like to do a regular sign in.
- Implemented a region selection option to support servers in regions outside of Australia. This will only be displayed once, the first time someone logs in and sets up the device.
- PainChek is now available on Android as a 64-bit application. The 64-bit version will be automatically installed on supported devices.
- Other minor changes and fixes.

Quick Sign In PIN Storage
For security purposes, we never actually store the PIN you provide, but rather, we store a salted and hashed version of it. This allows PainChek to authenticate you, without the risk of revealing your PIN to PainChek staff or any other individual. You can find more details about salting and hashing on this wikipedia page or contact support@painchek.com.
This also applies to how we store your password in PainChek.
